Beginner's Guide to Understanding Vape Terminology

Vaping has become increasingly popular over the years and with that, a lot of new vocabulary and terminology has emerged. For those new to vaping, understanding the terminology can be quite daunting. In this beginner's guide, we will cover some of the most commonly used terms in the vaping world.

Atomiser: An atomiser is the part of a vape device that vapourises the e-liquid. It typically consists of a coil and wick, which heat up and vapourise the liquid. This is usually referred to as a coil.

Battery: The battery is the component that powers the vape device. It is usually rechargeable and provides power to the atomiser.

Box Mod: A box mod is a type of vape device that typically features a square or rectangular shape. It allows for more customisation and control over the vaping experience, such as adjusting the wattage or temperature.

Clouds:
Clouds describe how much vapour a person issues with each puff.

Coil: The coil is a heating element that is located inside the atomiser. It heats up when the battery is activated, which vapourises the e-liquid.

Custom Mod: This is usually referred to vapers who have made their mod rather than purchase a factory built one.

Drip Tip: The drip tip is the removeable mouthpiece of a vape device. It is usually made of plastic, metal or glass and is where the vapour is inhaled.

E-liquid: E-liquid is the liquid that is used in vape devices. It typically consists of a mixture of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), flavourings, and nicotine. You can also get liquids that don’t contain nicotine.

Juice: Juice is a slang term for e-liquid.

Mechanical Mod: A mechanical mod is a type of vape device that does not have any electronic components. It consists of a battery, atomiser, and a switch that allows the user to manually control the vapour production.

Mod: A mod is a modified vape device that allows users to customise various features such as wattage, temperature control, and voltage.

Ohm: Ohm is a unit of electrical resistance. It is commonly used to describe the resistance of the coil in an atomiser.

Tank: A tank is a component that holds the e-liquid. It typically consists of a glass or plastic chamber and a replaceable coil.

Wattage: Wattage is a measurement of the power output of a vape device. It can be adjusted on some devices to produce more or less vapour.

These are just a few of the most commonly used terms in the vaping world.
